We strongly encourage you to start your search process online, even if you do not want to ultimately purchase your diamond online. This will give you an understanding of how the variables involved affect the price of a diamond. We recommend Blue Nile, James Allen and Pricescope for your search. These websites allow you to adjust the variables that affect the quality of a diamond, as well as shape and carat weight, and show you how the prices change as a result. This way, even if you decide to purchase through our dealer, you will be informed about what you’re seeing when you get to that point. You will know exactly what values you are prioritizing over others, and why.
You’ll need to know some basic terminology in order to understand the variables you’re adjusting on these sites. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) developed the 4Cs and the diamond grading system that is used industry-wide to evaluate diamonds.
